Anmari Van NieuwenhoveARTS MANAGER, TELOK AYER ARTS CLUB
Growing up with a mother who’s an artist meant that Anmari Van Nieuwenhove honed a natural disposition to observing and talking about art since a young age. Constantly being engaged in artistic dialogue and a love for text and film led her to pursue a degree in English Literature at the National University of Singapore.
Anmari went on to provide publication support for the Singapore Biennale catalogue in 2013, and subsequently managed the digital marketing and communication strategy at Singapore Art Museum for four years, growing their social media platform to its 30,000-strong following today. She has also taken part in some of her own artistic projects including video works Under Your Spell and Recollected which was exhibited at NIE Art Gallery in 2011, as well as bylines for publications such as ArtRepublik, and ARTicle: The Singapore Art Review.
Anmari joined SPRMRKT as Arts Manager in 2017, where she curated the unique art spaces across its two outlets with works and exhibitions of local and emerging artists, as well as established contemporary artists from around the world.
Anmari now holds the role of Arts Manager at Telok Ayer Arts Club alongside curator Kamiliah. Together, they will enact a curatorial offering that transcends the traditional “white cube gallery”, one that is expressed through the mediums of art, music, food and drink, and allows each artist they showcase to respond to the Arts Club in their own way, and vice versa.
